Question: Why do my keystrokes take a long time to show up on the screen when I'm connected to a Close-Up Host?
Or
Question: Why do I keep getting "Timeout Errors " during file transfers?
Or
Question: Why does my Close-Up Task Files get an unexpected disconnect when the first Send or Fetch command is attempted?
Answer: These are all symptoms of a known issue with the 3Com U.S. Robotics Sportster modems (28.8 and higher models). We are currently working with 3Com/U.S. Robotics on a solution for the problem, and hope to have a complete fix in the near future. If you are not a U.S. Robotics Sportster user, then this does not apply to you, and it is suggested that you contact our Technical Support Dept. via E-Mail.
Step 1: Check to see if you are using a 3Com U.S. Robotics Sportster modems. See the "How do I find out my modem information?" FAQ for instructions on how to find out what kind of modem is installed in your machine.
Step 2: File transfer performance can be improved by setting the baud rate to 115,200 on the computer with the U.S. Robotics Sportster modem. Re-run the Close-Up Setup program to set the baud rate. To re-run the Setup program from Windows 95/98, go to the Start Button -> Programs -> Close-Up V6.5 -> Close-Up Setup.
After your modem has been found the "Accept the Above Configuration" Window should be on the screen (see below).

Highlight the Baud Rate field, and hit Enter until it reads 115,200. Highlight the Accept Above Configuration Field, and hit Enter to finish Setup.
Note: Make sure you select the proper modem from our list. If your U.S. Robotics Sportster is not in you current list, you can get a modem list update from our Tech Support Downloads page.
