How to Use Remote Control:

Using Remote Control:

After you connect an iClose-Up Client to an iClose-Up Server by modem, Internet or network you will see the “Connect Options” screen giving you the choice of doing one or more of, File Transfers, Remote Control or Chatting.  If you choose to run Remote Control (NetMeeting), then you will get two new windows on your screen.  One window is iClose-Up’s small Remote Control “Tool Bar”.  The Tool Bar will say “Starting Remote Control, Please Wait”.  After remote control starts, it will say “Remote Controlling xxxxxx” where xxxxxx is the name of the computer you are controlling remotely.  The other window in the center of your Client screen (which can take a few moments to appear) is your Remote Control window of the Server computer.

To take Remote Control, double click inside the center of the Remote Control window.

To end Remote Control click on the large Close & Exit button on the iClose-Up Remote Control “Tool Bar”.

Another way to take Remote Control, at any time, of an iClose-Up Server (besides taking remote control when you first connect as described above) is to click on the Entry for the computer you want to remote control in your iClose-Up List.  Then click on the option Remote Control this Machine.

After you get remote control you will probably see scroll bars on the sides of the remote control window, depending on the screen resolution of both computers.  If the resolution of both computers is the same then you can make the remote control window full screen by clicking on the View pull-down menu at the top of your remote control screen, and then clicking on the selection Full Screen.  If the resolution of both sides is not the same then the Full Screen selection will be grayed out.  Once the screen is “full screen” a small button will appear at the upper right of your screen saying, “Restore”.  Clicking on this “Restore” button will restore the Remote Control screen back to its starting size.

Other options for Remote Control can be found on the Remote Control tab in the Options screen.  Bring up the iClose-Up List by double-clicking on the red iClose-Up triangles in the lower right of your screen.  Click on the Options button on the bottom of the iClose-Up List.  Then click on the Remote Control tab.  Also see iClose-Up Remote Control Security by right clicking on the iClose-Up triangles in the lower right of your screen and selecting Security for this Computer.

When you start Remote Control you will by default see the desktop of the iClose-Up Server.  This is the normal way to start remote.  If the iClose-Up Server has a active moving graphic on it’s desktop or a very complex graphic desktop then it can take a long time to transfer to your screen.  You can uncheck the option When Starting Remote Control, show desktop of the other computer and the desktop will not be sent over to your screen when you connect.  Instead when you start Remote Control you will see iClose-Up’s small remote control “Tool Bar”.  You could then use either of the two options “Launch Application running on Remote Computer” or “List Applications on Remote Computer”. To find out more about these options see the Remote Control tab in the Options screen.  Bring up the iClose-Up List by double-clicking on the red iClose-Up triangles in the lower right of your screen.  Click on the Options button on the bottom of the iClose-Up List.  Then click on the Remote Control tab.
