What iClose-Up Scripts are:  iClose-Up Scripts allow you to automate routine or complex file transfers.  Any time you find that you are doing repetitive tasks like sending or fetching files with iClose-Up, you can make a script file to do it for you.  The Script will make the connection for you whether it is Internet or Modem.  The Script will send, fetch, synchronize or backup your files or folders.  The Script will take care of problems that could arise like retrying a busy number or reconnecting a dropped modem line.  The Script will even give you a report of what it did.  Of course you can schedule Scripts with the iClose-Up Scheduler so they can do your work for you, while you sleep!

When you use iClose-Up to connect and either set up to do a file transfer or actually do a file transfer, iClose-Up will memorize what you did and give you the option to save it as a Script File.

How to Create Quick Script Files:  First connect to another iClose-Up computer and select iClose-Up Quick File Transfer.

(Either choose iClose-Up Quick File Transfer when you first connect, from the “Connect Options” or after you are connected double click on the red iClose-Up triangles in the lower right of your screen then in the iClose-Up List click on the entry for the computer you are connected to and select iClose-Up Quick File Transfer.)

Select the Files/Folder you want to transfer from your Source, then select your Destination, and then press the Save as Script button.

Save as Script will save the current transfer as a script.  After you save the Script you can go ahead and do the transfer by hand and the next time you want to do the same transfer you would run your new Script file.

You may run this script at any time in the future by right clicking on the red iClose-Up triangles in the lower right of your screen then clicking Run an iClose-Up Script.  Now select your Script click Run and then click Run Script.

Schedule:  You can schedule the Script at any time by right clicking on the red iClose-Up triangles in the lower right of your screen then clicking Schedule an iClose-Up Event.

Edit:  You may edit the script with the iClose-Up script editor, by right clicking on the red iClose-Up triangles in the lower right of your screen then clicking Change an iClose-Up Script.

iClose-Up Server Side:  This page tells you what you need to do on the iClose-Up Client side when running iClose-Up Scripts.  To see what you need to do on the iClose-Up Server side, see Getting Started Scripts the Server Side.

Multiple Transfers to One Location:  You can have multiple transfers in one Script file to one location.  When you press the Save the Script button you will be asked to put in a File name (iClose-Up puts in a suggestion for a name), if you select a File name from the existing Scripts, iClose-Up will give you the option to Merge your new script into the existing Script.  This way you can add new transfers to existing Scripts any time you want to.

Transfers to Multiple Locations:  You can have transfers in one Script file to multiple locations.  When you press the Save the Script button you will be asked to put in a File name (iClose-Up puts in a suggestion for a name), if you select a File name from the existing Scripts, iClose-Up will give you the option to Merge your new script into the existing Script.  If iClose-Up sees that you are going to a different location (destination computer) then iClose-Up will put in a disconnect statement and a new connect statement in your Script file.  This way when the transfer is finished to the first location iClose-Up will disconnect and make a new connection to the new location.  Note, if iClose-Up got on the Internet by dialing your ISP it will not hang up that connection until all the transfers are completed to all locations.  You can add new transfers, to new locations, to existing Scripts any time you want to.
