How to Find IP Addresses:

 

 

An IP address is a four part (octet) number used as an address to locate a computer on a network.  An example of an IP address is 192.168.1.1 where each part of the four part address is separated by a period. 

 

If a computer on your network is running Windows 95/98/Me:

 

1.       Go to your Windows desktop and right-click on Network Neighborhood or My Network Places.

2.       Select Properties.

3.       Select TCP/IP for your network adapter.

4.       Click on the Properties button.

5.       Click on the IP Address tab, on the IP Address line see the IP address for that computer.

 

If a computer on your network is running Windows NT 4.0:

 

1.       Go to your Windows desktop and right-click on Network Neighborhood.

2.       Select Properties.

3.       Select the Protocols tab.

4.       Highlight TCP/IP Protocol.

5.       Click on the Properties button, on the IP Address line see the IP address for that computer.

 

 

If a computer on your network is running Windows 2000 or Windows XP:

 

1.       Go to your Windows desktop, or if using the Windows XP START menu click start, then right-click on My Network Places.

2.       Select Properties.

3.       Double click on Local Area Connection.

4.       Click on the Properties button.

5.       Highlight TCP/IP Protocol.

6.       Click on the Properties button, on the IP Address line see the IP address for that computer.
