If you are using iClose-Up Proxy software on a Windows XP™ machine and you want to continue to use the Firewall option for the Internet Connection that is being shared, you will need to make rules to allow TCP and UDP access for all of the possible iClose-Up ports. The first step in doing this is to discover the ports the iClose-Up Proxy software is using for iClose-Up clients. Continue through the following steps to find which ports must be given TCP and UDP access in the Windows XP™ Firewall.
1.
Click the START button
2.
Point at All Programs
3.
Point at iCloseupProxy
4.
Click Proxy Config
5.
Write down the number in the Min. and Max
fields under ‘TCP/IP Port Range’
The Min. and Max numbers correspond to the first and last
port in the range of ports used by iClose-Up machines that are connected to the
Internet through this machine. If you
have 10 machines that are sharing the Internet behind the iClose-Up Proxy
software then you should change the Max number from the default value of
49 higher than the Min. to the necessary value of 10 higher than the
Min. For example, the default values of
Min. 53,701 and Max 53,750 means that ports 53,701 through 53,750 will be given
to iClose-Up machines behind the iClose-Up Proxy software. If you don’t need 49 ports because you only
have 10 machines you should lower the Max to 53,711 because this will make less
work in the next step which is to set access to these ports through the
Firewall.
1.
Click the START button
2.
Point at Connect To
3.

In
the ‘Description of service’ field enter iClose-Up TCP <##> where <##> is the first iClose-Up port
in the range (Min. default is 53,701)
8.
In

running the iClose-Up proxy software
To find the Computer Name of the Windows XP™ machine running the iClose-Up Proxy software, perform these steps

in the range (Min. default is 53,701)
10.

and selecting UDP in step (11)
14.
Repeat steps (6) through (13) with the
exception of substituting the next progressive iClose-Up port through the
entire range for <##> in step (7) and in step (9)
