Options Internet:
Register
this Computer when dialing into the Internet (checked
by default): When you use iClose-Up to
dial into the Internet, it will automatically register itself with the Close-Up Internet Name Server. This allows your associates with iClose-Up who
have your iClose-Up Internet Name, to see in their iClose-Up Lists that you
are available to be connected to, on the Internet. (To find out more about iClose-Up Internet Name see iClose-Up Internet Name four paragraphs below). If you do not want your associates to see
that you are on the Internet, or be able to connect to you (by name), then
uncheck this option before you dial up the Internet.
Automatically
check registration when connected to the Internet (checked by default): This
Option Keeps your ISP from hanging up your connection. ISP’s will if they do not see Internet
traffic from your computer disconnect your connection. iClose-Up will put a small amount of traffic
on the Internet when you are not active.
This option needs to be on (checked) for the following two options “Keep this Computer Registered when the Internet is available” and “Auto Reconnect on Internet Failure” to work.
Keep
this Computer Registered when the Internet is available (checked by default): This
command registers Constant connections to the Internet and keeps dial-up connections registered
when the ISP changes your TCP/IP address dynamically (when your TCP/IP lease
runs out). For this option to work the
above option “Automatically check registration
when connected to the Internet” must be on (checked). If iClose-Up is or becomes unregistered with the Close-Up Internet Name Server (CINS) then
iClose-Up will re-register itself with the CINS. If you have a Constant connection this allows your associates
with iClose-Up who have your iClose-Up Internet Name, to see in their
iClose-Up Lists that you are available to be connected to, on the
Internet. (To find out more about
iClose-Up Internet Name see iClose-Up Internet Name two paragraphs below).
If you have a
constant connection to the Internet and don’t want your associates to see that
you are on the Internet, or be able to connect to you (by name), then uncheck
this option. Doing this will keep you
from being re-registered in the future but you still need to de-register
now. You can de-register by hand for immediate invisibility by
positioning your mouse pointer on the red iClose-Up triangles in the lower right of the screen, then Single clicking on the Right mouse
button, then select Internet Visibility and Incoming
Access, then uncheck “This computer is visible on the Internet” and uncheck “Access is set to open (allow incoming connections)” and then press the OK button..
Auto
Reconnect on Internet Failure (Not checked
by default): You should select this
option if you are dialing into the Internet through an ISP and you are using
this computer as an iClose-Up Server on the Internet. For this
option to work the above two options “Automatically
check registration when connected to the Internet” and “Keep this Computer Registered when the Internet is available” must be on
(checked). This Option checks
periodically to make sure iClose-Up is registered with the Close-Up Internet Name Server allowing
iClose-Up Clients to find it on the Internet.
If iClose-Up finds for some reason that it is not registered and can not
register (due to a complex socket problem which is beyond the scope of this
documentation) using the above command “Keep
this Computer Registered when the Internet is available” then iClose-Up will disconnect from the Internet and reconnect and
reregister itself.
