Options Proxy:
Internet Connection Sharing/Proxy Servers/Routers (checked by default): This option affects both iClose-Up Client
and Server side functionality. If this
iClose-Up computer uses Microsoft Internet
Connection Sharing (ICS) or a Proxy Server or a Router to get on the Internet, then you will need to check this option.
Note, if you
are running iClose-Up on the same computer that is acting as the Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing Server (the
computer that is actually connected to the Internet), then you would want to
check this option.
If your
iClose-Up computer does not use Microsoft Internet
Connection Sharing (ICS) or a Proxy Server or a Router to get on the Internet, then you should uncheck this option. If you don’t need this option then
un-checking it will allow iClose-Up to determine, much faster, when it loses a
connection.
iClose-Up Port Number for this computer (default is port 2338): This
option affects iClose-Up Server side functionality and is used with Routers, NAT’s, Mappings, Route Tables and Port Forwarding. You should not change this
port number unless you know what you are doing. The default port that iClose-Up uses is 2338.
If you are on the
Internet you can change iClose-Up’s port in this menu and any iClose-Up Clients
that connect to you will automatically shift to using the port you set here
while they are connected to you.
If you are
using a router to have your computers get on the Internet see the Routers page in this manual.
This Computer is behind a
Windows Proxy Server using iClose-Up Proxy Software (unchecked by default): This
option affects iClose-Up Server side functionality. If you are using a Windows
Proxy Server or an Internet
Connection Sharing server to have your computers get on the
Internet and you are putting the iClose-Up
Proxy software on these servers then you will need to
select this option by checking it.
You can get the
iClose-Up Proxy software by
downloading it from the Norton-Lambert web site at www.iclose-up.com. After you install the iClose-Up Proxy software on the computer running Windows Proxy Server software you should on each computer
running iClose-Up behind the Proxy turn on two options on the Options Proxy tab by checking this option “This Computer is behind a Windows Proxy Server using iClose-Up Proxy
Software” and checking “Internet Connection Sharing/Proxy Servers/Routers”.
Being behind a Proxy Server computer with iClose-Up Proxy software on it will be transparent
to any iClose-Up Clients trying to connect to you. The iClose-Up Server computers will appear in the “Available” section of the iClose-Up Clients “iClose-Up List”.
IP
Address of computer running iClose-Up Proxy Software:
You will need to ask your network administrator for this IP
address. This IP address has to
be the internal network address not the external IP address on the
Internet.
iClose-Up
Proxy Software Port Number (default is port 53700): There is generally no reason to change this
port number. This is the port number
iClose-Up uses to communicate with the iClose-Up
Proxy software on the Windows Proxy Server or the Internet
Connection Sharing server.
Update
the iClose-Up Proxy Software every (default is 60
seconds): Updating the Proxy Server
every minute is a good default and generally no reason to change it. This option is used if the Windows Proxy
Server or Internet Connection Sharing server gets restarted. iClose-Up Client tells the iClose-Up Proxy software its IP location on the
network.
Advanced
Options (unchecked by default): Note, if the Use
iClose-Up Router Service is checked in the iRouter panel, then this option is automatically
turned on by iClose-Up. This option
should only be changed if the Norton-Lambert technical support department tells
you to do so.
iClose-Up
Secondary Port (default is port 3039): This option should only be changed if the
Norton-Lambert technical support department tells you to do so.
Alternate
IP Address: This option should only be changed if the Norton-Lambert
technical support department tells you to do so.
Technical Note,
an iClose-Up computer that is being an iClose-Up Server can at the same time be
an iClose-Up Client.
To find out how
to install the iClose-Up Proxy software on a Windows Proxy Server or an
Internet Connection Sharing server you should read “How to
Install the iClose-Up Proxy software” in this online Help.
