Options iRouter:

These settings are only used when you are a subscriber to the iClose-Up Internet Router Service. The Router Service is usually turned on at iClose-Up install time if the iClose-Up Install program determines that your computer needs the Service.

In some situations when there is a Router or Firewall that has not been configured to work with iClose-Up that Router or Firewall can block incoming connections to your computer. In these situations the iClose-Up Internet Router Service allows your computer to be an iClose-Up Server on the Internet. Having your computer as an iClose-Up Server means that iClose-Up computers will be able to optionally connect into your computer.

The iClose-Up Internet Router Service is available to registered iClose-Up users on a monthly fee basis. You can sign up for this service by contacting Norton-Lambert by calling 805-964-6767 or emailing sales@norton-lambert.com to request this Router Service. If you want to save money and not use the iClose-Up Internet Router Service, you can read the sections, Routers as well as Firewalls and Ports in the iClose-Up online Help and then configure your, or your ISP's, Router or Firewall.

Use iClose-Up Router Service (checked if you are using the service): This option affects only iClose-Up Server side functionality. If there is a Router or Firewall blocking incoming access to your iClose-Up computer and you do not or cannot configure your Router or Firewall to work with iClose-Up, you will need to have this option checked and be a subscriber to the iClose-Up Internet Router Service.

To test and see if you need this option you can right click on the red iClose-Up triangles in the lower right of your screen, select Run iClose-Up Tests, then select Run Internet Outgoing & Incoming Tests. This test will tell you if you need this option checked as well as needing to subscribe to the iClose-Up Internet Router Service.

iClose-Up Computer ID for this Computer: Displays the unique iClose-Up ID number for your computer. You will need to have this number when you call Norton-Lambert to subscribe to the iClose-Up Internet Router Service or email this number (by copying and pasting this number into an e-mail) to Norton-Lambert at sales@norton-lambert.com when you subscribe to the iClose-Up Internet Router Service.

Router Key (empty by default): Enter the number supplied to you by Norton-Lambert. If the number was e-mailed to you, you should copy and paste the number into this field. The number is 20 characters long of both numbers and alphabetic characters. It is entered in 5 groups of four numbers. The alphabetic characters are not case sensitive meaning you can use capitals if you want to.

Address of computer running iClose-Up Router Service (default is server1.norton-lambert.com): Enter the Server Address (Name) supplied to you by Norton-Lambert. Enter this name in lower case. If Norton-Lambert does not give you a Server Address (Name) then leave this field alone (leave the default in this field).

iClose-Up Router Service Port Number (default is 80): You will never want to change this option unless you are instructed to do so by Norton-Lambert technical support.
