Script Transfer Options:
View
Script Transfer Options: When you connect to another iClose-Up computer and select iClose-Up Quick
File Transfer you can then select the Files/Folder you
want to transfer from your Source, then select your Destination, and then press
the Save as Script
button. Now if you check View Script Transfer Options the Script
Transfer Options will be displayed. The
Script Transfer Options only affect the transfers by Script and not the
transfers by hand. The Options are
listed below.
Include
Subfolders (checked by default): When checked, if you select a Folder or
multiple Folders to transfer, the Folders you selected will be transferred as
well as any subfolders within your selected Folders.
When unchecked,
if you select a Folder or multiple Folders to transfer, just the Folders you
selected will be transferred and none of the subfolders.
Mirror
Image Backup (unchecked by default): You will generally only check this
option if you are using iClose-Up for offsite Backups. When checked, iClose-Up will take any extra
files or folders on your destination computer that do not exist on the source
computer and move them to the iClose-Up Deleted Files Archive folder in the root directory.
iClose-Up will append the date and time to the file or folder
moved. This option works only when one
or more folders are selected for transfer and works only on those folders
selected, if just a file or multiple files and no folders are selected for
transfer then this option will not delete and move any files.
Mirror Image
Backup is useful when you are backing up on an ongoing basis data from one
computer to another. With this option
any files or folders that have been deleted from the source computer will be
deleted from the destination computer’s folder and moved to the iClose-Up Deleted Files Archive folder. As an example say you backup the office
fileserver to your home computer. Each
day people at the office delete files and folders on the fileserver. After a few days or a few months you can see
that your folders at home would have many extra “deleted” files and folders and
not be a mirror image of the office fileserver. By turning on Mirror Image Backup your home computer will always
have a mirror image of the office fileserver.
Any files or folders that get deleted at the office will be deleted from
that directory on your home computer and moved to the iClose-Up Deleted
Files Archive folder.
In addition iClose-Up will append the date and time to the file or
folder deleted and moved.
Then if someone
at the office says they deleted a file or folder 6 months ago and they now
desperately need it, you can find it instantly in the iClose-Up Deleted
Files Archive folder.
Transfer
Contents Only (unchecked by default): When unchecked, iClose-Up transfers Files
and Folder Names. If you select
a Folder to transfer, this option not only sends all the files in the Folder
but also if the receiving Folder or drive does not have the same name as the
source Folder, a new subfolder will be created on the receiving side. This is the way Windows copies normally
work.
When checked,
if you select a single Folder to transfer, this option acts as though
you selected all the files in the Folder (contents only). It will not send the Folder name nor will it
create a subfolder with the Folder name on the receiving side. This is a modification of the way Windows
normally copies files. Some users like
this option because they do not have to make sure that the folder names on both
computers are the same.
Transfer
only Common Files (unchecked by default):
All
Files: When
unchecked, all files selected will be transferred.
Send or
Fetch: As an
example on a send if the Client computer has two files A & B and the
Server computer has two files B & C then after the transfer the Client would
have two files A & B and the Server would have three files A & B &
C (B with the latest time and date).
Synchronize: As an example on a synchronize
if the Client computer has three files A & B & C and the Server
computer has three files A & B & D then after the synchronize the Client
would have four files A & B & C & D (files A & B with the
latest time and date), and the Server would have four files A & B & C
& D (files A & B with the latest time and date). Both sides Client and Server are identical.
Common
Files: When checked,
only common files selected will be transferred. iClose-Up transfers files or folders you
select to the destination computer, but only transfers files that have the same
name on both computers (Files Common to both sides).
Send or
Fetch: As an
example on a send if the Client computer has two files A & B and the
Server computer has two files B & C then after the transfer the Client would
have two files A & B and the Server would have two files B & C (B with the
latest time and date).
Synchronize: As an example on a synchronize
if the Client computer has two files A & B and the Server computer has two files
B & C then after the synchronize the Client would have two files A & B (B
with the latest time and date), and the Server would have two files B & C (B
with the latest time and date). The
Synchronize works on just file B making sure both sides have the latest time
and date.
If file
exists on destination computer
If you are transferring a file and it already exists on the other
computer what action should be taken.
Replace
the existing file if it is older:
This is the default and is the option used most often.
If the file name
you are transferring already exists on the other computer and the file’s time
and date is newer, then delete the old file on the other computer and transfer
the file.
Replace
the existing file always: If the file name you are transferring already exists on the
other computer, then delete the file on the other computer, and then transfer
the file. File time and date are
ignored.
Do not
copy the file:
If the file name you are transferring already exists on the other
computer, then do not transfer the file.
File time and date are ignored.
Rename
the existing file if it is older: If the file name you are transferring
already exists and is older on the other computer, then rename the file on the
other computer, and then transfer the file.
As an example say the original file name was “yourfile.doc”, after it is
renamed it would be “Close-Up backup of yourfile.doc”.
Rename
the existing file always:
If the file name you are transferring already exists on the other
computer, then rename the file on the other computer, and then transfer the
file. As an example say the original
file name was “yourfile.doc”, after it is renamed it would be “Close-Up backup
of yourfile.doc”.
