iClose-Up Overview

iClose-Up allows you to reach out and work on remote computers anywhere in the world.  You can connect by Internet, Modem or Network.  With iClose-Up on both computers you can work remotely, using your office applications, checking e-mail, doing just about anything you would normally do if you were actually in the office.  But you get to stay home!

iClose-Up is a complete remote communications system that allows you to transfer (cut & paste) files from work to home or from home to work.  You can telecommute, work remotely, have remote conferences, do offsite backups, synchronize files, create scripts for unattended night time execution and retrieve data from your branch offices, your associates, or your customers, anywhere in the world.

Telecommute from the security and comfort of your home:

iClose-Up is ideal for telecommuting.  You can work on a remote computer when no one is there, for example from your home or on the road from a hotel room, to your office computer.  Or you can work on a remote computer when someone is there, for example when you want to collaborate with someone where you both see the same screen and can create, edit and modify data working together.

Connecting over the Internet is easy, fast and free:

Connecting two iClose-Up computers over the Internet could not be easier.  Unlike other programs you do not have to know anything technical, like IP or TCP/IP numbers and addresses or ports.  iClose-Up uses names the way people do.  It’s so easy to connect to another iClose-Up computer or user, all you need to know is the iClose-Up name of the computer you want to connect to.

You can even connect to other iClose-Up users who are behind Firewalls, Routers, Proxy Servers or Internet Connection Sharing computers using just their iClose-Up names, you do not have to know their IP addresses or port numbers.

Here is an example of how iClose-Up works.  Let’s say you are on the Internet and your friend is not, then they would be in the “Offline” section of your iClose-Up List.  When they get on the Internet they will automatically pop to the “Available” section of your iClose-Up List.  If you want to connect to them, simply place your mouse pointer on their name and click on the “connect” option.  That’s it; you’re connected to them over the Internet.  You can do file transfers, Remote Control, and even chat.  It’s that easy!

iClose-Up Internet File Server, increases productivity:

One of iClose-Up’s strongest benefits is it’s ability to be an Internet File Server.  Just as you now use your file server on your company Network as a hub where employees can exchange information, an iClose-Up File Server can be used in much the same way on the Internet.  To make an iClose-Up Internet File Server all you have to do is put iClose-Up on a computer that is on the Internet and it instantly becomes your hub for exchanging information between your employees in the field, your branch offices, your clients as well as your customers.  iClose-Up has the unique ability to handle thousands of these type of connections, simultaneous, allowing all your users to stay up to date with the latest information and data.

Offsite Backups can save your business:

Because of iClose-Up’s incredible speed users are now for the first time able to backup large databases and massive amounts of information offsite, by Internet or Modem.  The more often the backups are done, the less time the backup will take, because iClose-Up finds and sends only the differences, using our new Hyper-Find technology, between the last time the files were backed up and now.

Here are three good reasons to augment your usual backup procedures by using iClose-Up to backup your files to a safe offsite location.

1)  Instant Offsite backups:  Many times offsite tapes or CD’s take several days to be carried offsite.  When you use iClose-Up to get vital data backed up offsite it happens right away, lessening the window of vulnerability to catastrophes destroying your fileserver and tape backup system.

2)  Redundant backups:  Use iClose-Up to backup offsite, then If your primary backup system fails (example would be a tape failure at time of restoring) since you also backed-up the same information with iClose-Up by file transfer, you have another source.

3)  Faster File Recovery time:  When you use iClose-Up’s Mirror Image Backup option it creates a Deleted Files Archive folder.  Now if someone at the office says they deleted a file or folder 6 months ago and they desperately need it, you can find it instantly in the iClose-Up Deleted Files Archive folder.  This is much faster then going to your tape backup database to find which tape that file might be on, then retrieving that tape, then getting to the proper location on the tape for the file you need.

Fastest File Transfers in the world save you time:

iClose-Up delivers the fastest file transfers in the world, by Internet, or by Modem.  iClose-Up uses our new Hyper-Squeeze compression as well as finding and sending only the differences between files, using our new Hyper-Find technology.

iClose-Up makes file transfers between computers fast and easy.  iClose-Up now allows you to exchange files with your office, your friends, your associates and customers.  iClose-Up can also automate file transfers so your computer can work for you while you sleep.  All transfers are optionally encrypted up to 128 bit encryption.

Remote Control saves you money, by allowing you to be in two places at the same time:

Remote Control allows you to take over a distant computer from your computer, see its desktop and do just about anything you could do if you were sitting at that computer.  An application like Microsoft Word would run on the distant “iClose-Up Server” computer.  Screen images (of Word), your keystrokes and mouse movements are transferred across the Internet or Modem.  With Remote Control the application (like Word) runs on the distant computer.  Using Remote Control you can work from home or the road with a portable computer and connect to your office computer and do just about anything you could do if you were actually sitting at your office computer.  Remote Control is an excellent way to telecommute, to provide help or collaborate with friends, associates and clients, no matter how far away.

Remote Conference allows impromptu meetings without the travel:

Remote Conference allows you to conference with multiple people over the Internet, Intranet or Network.  In a conference everyone remotely views the same computer screen, while you and your associates in other cities take turns controlling the mouse and keyboard.  This is an excellent way to conduct a seminar or classroom where it doesn’t matter if the participants are actually in a classroom or scattered around the world.

Remote Printing gives you a hard copy when you need it:

When you connect iClose-Up Client to an iClose-Up Server computer and optionally run Remote Control to take over the iClose-Up Server you can print a document or graphic on either the iClose-Up Server side or remotely on the iClose-Up Client side.

Scripts let your computer work for you, while you sleep:

iClose-Up Scripts allow you to automate all your file transfers.  Any time you find that you are doing repetitive tasks like sending or fetching files with iClose-Up, you can make a script file to do it for you.  The Script will make the connection for you whether it is Internet or Modem.  The Script will send, fetch, synchronize or backup your files or folders.  The Script will take care of problems that could arise like retrying a busy number or reconnecting a dropped Modem line.  The Script will even give you a report of what it did.  Of course you can schedule Scripts with the iClose-Up Scheduler so they can do your work for you, while you sleep!

Anybody can make Scripts, it’s easy.  When you use iClose-Up to connect and do a file transfer by hand, iClose-Up will memorize what you did and give you the option to save it as a Script File.  That’s it, It’s really that easy!

Scheduler lets iClose-Up work for you:

The iClose-Up Scheduler lets you schedule four different iClose-Up events.  You can schedule events to occur on different days of the week, every week.  Or you can schedule events to occur on certain days of the year at certain times.

1)  Scripts:  Use the Scheduler to schedule your Scripts to run at night when you are asleep.  Or on days when you are out of town.  Schedule your offsite backups to backup at night every day of the week.  When you return in the morning an iClose-Up Script Log will give you a detailed report of all that transpired.

2)  Allow Incoming Calls:  Use the Scheduler to schedule when and for how long your Modem will answer incoming calls.  This enhances your computer security by not allowing people to call into your computer 24 hours a day.  (Windows 95/98/Me feature)

3)  ISP Connections:  Use the Scheduler to schedule when and for how long your computer will be on the Internet.  If you dial an ISP to connect to the Internet, then you can schedule iClose-Up to connect and disconnect.  Once iClose-Up connects to the Internet, it will stay connected, even if your ISP tries to disconnect you.  When connected to the Internet, other iClose-Up users to whom you have given your iClose-Up Internet Name and passwords will be able to connect to your computer.

4)  Internet Visibility:  Use the Scheduler to schedule when and for how long your computer will be visible on the Internet.  If you have a constant (always on) connection to the Internet (such as Cable Modem, DSL, ISDN router or T1 type connection) then you can schedule when and for how long other iClose-Up users will be able to see and connect to you.  You would, of course, have to have given them your iClose-Up Internet Name.

Synchronize Files or Folders so you always have the latest data:

iClose-Up has synchronize options which allow you to synchronize either Files or Folders between multiple computers.  You can specify that all Files are synchronized or just Files that are common to all computers.  You can synchronize when doing hand transfers, and you can synchronize by script for execution at night when you are asleep.  You can synchronize by Internet, Intranet, Network or Modem, or even to your Zip drive or CD.

Incoming Log tells, who, when and for how long using are on your system:

iClose-Up keeps a log of all incoming iClose-Up connections.  This Log allows you to keep track of who connected, when they connected and how long they were connected.  When someone is connected to your system the Incoming Connection Log is “locked”, preventing someone from altering or tampering with the log even if they are remotely controlling your computer.

iClose-Up runs on Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows98 SE, Windows Me, Windows NT4.0, Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
